23 Refugee Families in Our Home – Helping Refugees in Kurdistan

http://www.mormonchannel.org/watch/series/give-back When the town of Mosul in Northern Iraq was overrun by terrorists, some civilians were killed and many escaped, leaving everything they had behind. Scared and homeless, the refugees had nowhere to turn until two brothers gave up their houses so the displaced people could have a place to live.

Today, about 23 families live in those two houses. None of the refugees are employed and all are in need of basic necessities like food, clothing, and medical support.

“Seeing these children, women, and elderly all crying, seeing their situation—I just want to be there for them, to help them, to serve them in any way I can,” says a woman who takes care of the refugees.

LDS Charities partners with a network of credible agencies to provide food, shelter, and sanitation for refugees like these all around the world. What are you doing in your own community to help “the strangers in our midst?” Share your story and learn how to help at http://giveback.lds.org.
