Elder Bednar and Elder Rasband Testify of Jesus Christ in Rome
Today we are standing in front of the Mamertine Prison in Rome, Italy. It is believed by many that this dungeon prison is the place where the ancient apostles Peter and Paul were held captive for publicly declaring their witnesses of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Now more than 2,000 years later, we are privileged to stand here as modern-day apostles of the Lord Jesus Christ in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and we delight in bearing our testimony of Him.
As men, we are humbled to be here in this day when we consider the conditions and the time that Peter and Paul actually lived and were imprisoned in this prison. We’re grateful and feel greatly honored and privileged to stand as apostles in our day and witness to the world the same witness that Peter and Paul had of the Lord Jesus Christ. We know of our Savior’s divinity and we stand together as witnesses of His name, in this day and our time.
Joyfully, we declare our sure witnesses of the reality of the Lord Jesus Christ. We witness that He lives, that He is the light and life of the world, and the only source of enduring, true joy. We gladly declare this witness—in this sacred place—in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
