“Better Off” and “With Wondering Awe” – Aubree Liz

In this episode of Mormon Channel Studio, singer-songwriter Aubree Liz shares fresh lyrics that describe her feelings about life as of late in her song “”Better Off.””

“Everyone hits that point in their life where it seems like all the bad things seem to pile up. You hope that they’ll come one at a time. But it never happens like that. That’s been the last couple months for me,” she says.

As she finished the song, she wasn’t sure how it should end. Eventually, the last stanzas became a sort of prayer—not for help; but rather for daily reminders that everything is going to be okay.

Aubree also performs the Christmas tune “With Wondering Awe.” She chose it because it reflects the simplicity of the first Christmas night.

“There were not lots of fireworks and trumpets. Angels appeared to shepherds, very simple people. Christ was born in a stable. It was very small and very quiet. I think this hymn really captures that aspect of Christmas,” she says.

Mormon Channel Studio is a weekly video series featuring hymn arrangements and original music by LDS musicians from across the nation.
