“Peace with a Lion” and “For the Beauty of the Earth” – David Lindes
“Forgiving others daily for small things may sound doable. What about forgiving the worst offenses, though? How do you make peace with a lion? That’s the question David Lindes asks in his original song “Peace with a Lion.”
David has spent the last several years searching for his biological father, who left when David was a baby. That abandonment is the “lion,” or offense, David has been striving to forgive. The biblical symbol of the lamb and the lion lying down together in peace inspired David to sing about his experience in that context.
“The lamb and the lion are a powerful symbol of peace. I always knew that in order for that to happen, the lion would have to go vegetarian, but I didn’t know that the lamb would have to not run away—to forgive and be at peace,” he explains.
In this session at Mormon Channel Studio David and his friends also perform one of his favorite hymns, “For the Beauty of the Earth.”
