“I think that’s the scariest part, because you just don’t know what’s coming at you,” said Brooke Slusser, a senior on San José State University’s (SJSU) volleyball team, when asked about her experience competing with a transgender athlete.

“When you have someone jumping so much higher than any woman on the court and swinging at the ball so much harder than any woman on the court … you can’t really defend yourself,” she said.

In today’s episode, Slusser will share her experience on and off the court and explain why she joined a lawsuit aimed at protecting women’s sports under Title IX of the NCAA rules.

“It was honestly really heartbreaking … someone who sat on the couch all summer made it look easy. They weren’t even breathing heavily afterward. And for me, I trained a minimum of twice a week and was dying every time I did it,” she shared, reflecting on her struggles.
