“Falling Down” and “God So Loved the World” – City of Enoch
The mission of City of Enoch, a Christian pop trio, is to testify of Jesus Christ. They brought their message to Mormon Channel Studio, where they performed two original songs.
The first, “Falling Down,” was written by pianist Jeremy Christensen when he was struggling to find peace.
“As I walked to the piano, I was overcome by the hard times,” he describes. “I fell to my knees and just prayed to Heavenly Father. ‘God, I’m here, I need You, I need to feel Your love.’ As I was doing that the idea ‘falling down’ came to me.”
He finished his prayer and sat at the piano to write a song about falling down before God on our knees in an expression of turning our lives over to Him.
That’s not the only instance of inspiration that’s fueled the City of Enoch. The band is relatively new. For two years, Jeremy and singer Kyle Wesley searched for a third member. The day after Jeremy decided to pray for help, he discovered Brianna Curran.
“After searching for two years, prayer was the answer for us,” he says. “Sometimes these things just come together, sometimes we have to ask for them.”
Jeremy and Kyle based the song “God So Loved the World” on this Bible verse:
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).
These musicians notice God’s hand in their lives every day. Have you recognized it in yours as well?
