Teaching Self-Reliance in Haiti
The people of Haiti endure unemployment, sickness, hunger, and more. Some have found hope, however, thanks to a special project that gives them the means to live happier, healthier lives.
Participants in this community based humanitarian aid project receive chickens, supplies, and training required to start their own businesses. Families are grouped together to construct coops and support one another. Profits are used to buy additional chickens and supplies, sustaining the business.
When Antoine and his wife joined and became business owners, they earned enough money to support their family and help others start their businesses too.
Helping people become more self-reliant makes a difference in not only in the lives of those individuals, but in their families and communities as well. Find out how you can help at giveback.lds.org
*Notes:
We realize a mistake was made in the subtitling: “Humanitain” should be spelled “Humanitarian.”
“LDS Humanitarian Services” is also know as “LDS Charities.”
