While its detractors understand populism as unprincipled, nationalistic, and even fascist, but it doesn’t have to be any of those things. Right now we’re seeing a surge in libertarian populism that is simply about appealing to the issues ordinary people care about, such as reducing inflation, stopping endless wars, and preserving individual freedoms in the face of COVID lockdowns and global schemes from the World Economic Forum.
