4 things I wish I knew before becoming a host of a low tox wellness retreat: bed edition

4 things I wish I knew from the start. Bed edition.
I thought colorful luxury sheets would make our guest home feel cozy. But I suppose too cozy.

Hours of dish soap, baking soda paste, stain remover and elbow grease later, I still ended up having to throw out set after set. Hundreds of dollars and hours, gone.

So here’s what I do now:
1. White sheets only. End of story.
2. Three sets per bed. Minimum. One on the bed, one in storage, one getting washed and folded. Key for sanity.
3. The bed gets the most money and the most time.

13% of our interiors budget went to Avocado Green mattresses so our guests could indulge in organic luxury. Peace of mind that you aren’t sleeping in a bed of VOCs leads to a better night sleep.

Our sheets are 100% long-staple Egyptian cotton sateen from Parachute.

Making one bed takes me about 25 minutes. My corporate days are over, I no longer rush anything for the sake of efficiency.

First Impressions matter. I want guests to walk in and not be able to wait to climb in.

Exact sheets and mattress are in my showroom link in bio.
