Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) stated that a code of ethics was required for the Supreme Court following text messages that Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas’ wife, Virginia Thomas, sent to a Trump White House official in the wake of the 2020 Presidential Election. He did not mention Kentaji Brown Jackson’s light sentencing record on child porn offenses in relation to a code of ethics.
