Gaetz: Broken House Rules Are “Not a Bug” But a “Feature of the System”

“We have built something that is purposely mystified so corrupt, bad decisions do not get exposed,” said Congressman Matt Gaetz (R-FL) of the current House of Representative rules, explaining that “members of Congress are not held accountable when they vote for bad things” in part because the system is set up to prevent transparency and accountability to the public and to encourage conformity to the leadership of both parties. Gaetz made his remarks Monday at an event to pressure Rep. Kevin McCarthy to change existing House rules.
