Gardening experiment: Hacking our soil temp to grow melons

Can we actually grow juicy melons in North Idaho? Will thinks so, but he’s doing things a little… differently this year.

Living in Sandpoint means our growing season is short and our nights stay chilly. Usually, melons would just give up, but Will has a plan.

He’s combining two major hacks for this experiment:

1. A Custom Trellis: To get the fruit off the cold ground and closer to that precious Idaho sun.

2. Soil Heating: Black plastic and walls of water to trick the plants into thinking they’re somewhere warmer.

It’s either going to be highly productive or a lot of work for one tiny cantaloupe. Stay tuned to see the progress on the garden build out and if this actually works come harvest time!
