Officer Shoots Knife-Wielding, “Rapidly Approaching” Man

Hawaii Police Department released body camera footage of an officer involved shooting of a man who refused to drop a knife. Officers reportedly found the man cutting himself and commanded him to “drop the knife.” After multiple refusals, an officer shot the 41-year-old man. After being shot, the man still refused to drop the knife and an another officer deployed a stun gun. The suspect was relocated to a local hospital to be treated for his injuries and remains there to recover. Currently the man is charged with attempted assault on a law enforcement officer in the first degree and terroristic threatening in the first degree.
