"Shots Fired!" — Watch How Quickly This Escalates

CHARGED WITH ATTEMPTED MURDER OF A POLICE OFFICER: The Buffalo Police Department released body camera footage of a gunfire exchange last month with Shariff L. Shadwick, 36. Officers were responding to a threat report in the area when they noticed a man who appeared to be armed. Things quickly escalated and now Shadwick, who was on parole at the time, is charged with one count of first-degree attempted murder of a police officer, two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and one count of second-degree obstructing governmental administration. Buffalo Police Commissioner Joseph Gramaglia expressed gratitude for the footage: “Police officers, for decades, have been saying how quickly things can escalate. Now citizens are able to see what officers are talking about.” No one was injured in the exchange.
