WATCH: Toddler Left in Hot Rental Car by Grandfather Is Saved by Employees

Volusia Police Department released body camera footage of officers responding to a toddler being found in a rental car after her grandfather left her at Daytona Beach International Airport. The rental car was returned at the airport at 5:13 pm on Monday, and 45 minutes later the toddler was found in the back seat of the hot vehicle by a Hertz employee. At first the employee was not able to reach the grandfather but later was contacted by the child’s mother who came and eventually was reunited with the toddler. The grandfather, 62-year-old David Towner, apologized and cooperated with police. Towner was charged with child neglect and transported to jail. The sheriff of Volusia County will be awarding citizens awards to the Hertz employees who helped.
