We built a strawberry tree for CHEAP!

A strawberry tree is exactly what it sounds like — a post with arms, hanging baskets full of strawberries, and zero wasted ground space. We built ours from a 10-foot pressure treated 4×4, four 2×3 arms, some screw-in hooks, and four coco fiber hanging baskets. That’s pretty much it.

Full materials list:

• 10ft pressure treated 4×4 post
• Four 8ft 2x3s (whatever you have on hand works)
• 4 screw-in hooks, plus 2 1/2 inch screws
• 4 Vigoro coco fiber hanging baskets (~$50)
• One bag of garden soil
• Strawberry starts
• Concrete to set the post

Total cost is somewhere in the $0–$200 range depending on what you already have sitting around. We had most of the lumber and strawberries on hand, so ours came in at the lower end.

The strawberries are first-year starts right now — no fruit yet, but that’s kind of the point. You’re watching this get built from nothing. Part of the deal.

We’ll check back in when it’s producing.

🍓 Follow along — we’re building this homestead from scratch, one project at a time.
