Why Was The Nauvoo Expositor Really Destroyed?

Some insist that the Nauvoo Expositor was destroyed because of its slanderous remarks about Joseph Smith, but what do the historical records themselves say? The workings of the press were said to bring the mob, but why would a mob be outraged at what was printed, given they were also against Joseph Smith and believed what was printed? Jessica Long has some ideas, and the records to show for it as she explains that there was much more than slander that led to the destruction of the Nauvoo Expositor.
